20 years later

I discovered my love of photography back in High School. Back then I didn't have much in the way of fancy camera equipment - and my work in the dark room developing B&W pictures of my classmates - left a lot to be desired in the way of contrast and lighting - but it was a joy and passion nevertheless.

A few weeks ago I attended my 20 year High School reunion in Pennsylvania and had the experience of showing some of the photos I took back then in a slideshow as well as being the "event photographer" for the evening as well. Here are a few of my favorites from the evening

Beautiful catering at the McMeekin's home, the post party that was the highlight of the evening!

Old Girlfriends are the best! They know you from when you were young and geeky - and love you more then anyone.  I am blessed so many of them are still a part of my life!

Catching up on old times and new.

The classmates and their spouses - have to say  - not looking to shabby for a group of people all about to hit the huge 4 - 0 !!!!

The McMeekins.....High School sweethearts - still together!!! Now if that doesn't give a jaded single girl some hope I don't know what does! :-)

Event Photography is fun when you are a part of the event - but more challenging as I wanted to be a part of the festivities and people wanted me to be in the photos - so my camera kept getting taken away from me! It was a load of fun all around!  Even after I showed the video I edited of us in all of our 18 year old drunken/silly glory!

Sunsets are a weakness

After spending several weeks rescuing my photos and going through a tedious process of "re-processing" the masters for my new editing software - I felt it was igh time to grab a few that made me very happy a month ago

These were all taken from the private beach of Sandy Cove in Siesta Key florida. Thanks to an old dear friend from High School and her parents having a condo there for winter. It's nice knowing "Snow birds"!

Just some photo fun for me. :-)

Siesta Key Sunsets

I didn't realize just how much I missed sunsets being back on the East Coast for 8 months now - until I headed to the West Coast of Florida for a few days! WOW!

These were taken on the private cove/beach behind Sandy Cove in Siesta Key Florida. I was lucky enough to go visit one of my oldest and dearest friends from High School after far to many years between our last visit.

While I was there her mother introduced me to her neighbor, a semi-retired professional Photographer who gave me a little of her time my last morning here. In 15 minutes I learned more from her then I had in 2 years of self-teaching, and was THRILLED when she complimented some of my work and helped me critique some more of it.

Valentines Charity Event

Well I won't lie - Valentine's Day is one of my LEAST favorite holidays of the year. I mean what single girl likes a day that is basically the equivalent of a cosmic bitch slap. "Hey remember when you were young and awkward and the boys didn't like you? Well guess what sister - nothing much has changed" (yes ok I lifted all of that directly from the movie Valentines Day - but doesn't make it any less true does it?)

Well all of a sudden I have a reason to feel GOOD about Valentines Day and guess what - now YOU do to!! Because, now I have something exciting to think about other then myself, and THAT I have learned is ALWAYS a good thing!

A Global Friendship is having a party! A cocktail fund raiser event at Betel Restaurant in NYC! Now when was the last time cocktails weren't fun? Add that to the fact that you will be directly helping out an organization committed to making the world a more beautiful place - oh yeah and did I mention canapes, music and awesome jewelry? I mean come on! Drinks, music, people fun and helping your fellow man? It's a win all around people!

A Global Friendship

Too many months I have not written - in fact too many months I have not picked up my camera! But NO MORE! Time to get back into it.

First off - I GOT A JOB. I tried not to have to go back to "working for the man" for as long as possible, and luckily I succeeded! I am now working for THE WOMAN! I am also working to help make the world a better and more beautiful place and I couldn't be more excited! How am I doing all these amazing things with one job you ask?

A Global Friendship

An amazing Non-for-profit started by a woman with an incredibly inspiring story and desire to help make the world a better place and having some great success at it!

Funny thing is as I am about to start working in sales for them (will post photos of the very cool products when I get my samples) as well as help plan a fund raiser down here etc - in other words about to get BUSY - I find I am more inspired to write, to shoot to do all the things I love to do!

The creative juices are flowing - the idea of doing something with meaning is the biggest inspiration around! It's true - and I plan to do what I can to help our world - in any small way I can.

Have a beautiful day!

Popsicle Art

I shouldn't play favorites - I know that...but you can forgive me knowing that this little ray of sunshine is my first and only God-baby and her equally beautiful siblings all share a special place in my heart.

I shot these in their backyard on a beautiful sunny afternoon in NJ. The mood and the feeling invoked by the sharing of popsicles inspired me to do some creative editing on them - beyond the normal B&W.

The light seemed to want me to soften the colors they wore into this pastel magic - and I couldn't say no.
